Wale returns with more new music for his loyal fan base as he dropped off a brand new EP titled Self Promotion late last night (May 7). The new project features just four new songs from the DMV rapper, but the lyrical content serves as more than enough to tide over fans.
While he opts out of recruiting any artist guest features on the EP, Wale does recruit DJ Money to assist him on the final record, 'Cassius (Excellency).' The SHINE entertainer uses a lot of wordplay on the project and in the tracklist itself, as he has a song titled 'Salary Kaep,' which plays on the football term 'salary cap,' but dives into the injustices that Colin Kaepernick protested by kneeling for the National Anthem. Beyblade metal masters episodes free.
Fans have been expressing their excitement and enthusiasm for the new material, but Wale revealed this morning (May 8) that Self Promotion would be his last indie music project. He told fans that he has goals he wants to accomplish outside of music, and is ready to start a new chapter.
'This will be my last indie project . it’s been fun (and lucrative) but I have goals to accomplish outside music. New chapter,' he writes.
Take a listen to Wale's new Self Promotion EP below and check out the full tracklist.

SZA's platinum-selling single, 'The Weekend,' now gets a new male perspective thanks to Wale's remix of the track.
On Thursday (Jan. 11), the MMG rapper shared his version of the hit song, adding his poetry-esque flow to 'The Weekend.' Borrowing many of the same themes SZA sings about, Wale raps, 'Look, I'm sorry we got us a lil' problem/Monogamy not for the weak hearted.'
Later in the song, Wale takes a deep look at himself, spitting, 'Maybe cheaters is sociopaths/Maybe we be cheatin', we ain't heal from a ho in the past/Or maybe I'm a ho and I can show you this hole in my heart/I eat your liquid gold and go home to Golden Corral, you don't know.'
In July, following the release of Shine, Wale told fans he would be taking a hiatus for a while. In a photo posted on Instagram, the D.C. rapper wrote, 'Man idk what I'm doin but I know I need to make changes. Find my happiness, could this be phase one? I'll be leaving you guys for a while. my friend @issarae says it's time to change up.'
While it's uncertain what kind of break Wale took, the rapper has recently reappeared on new songs from Statik Selektah's 8 album and N.E.R.D's No One Ever Really Dies. Wale is also back in the studio working on new music, telling Billboard, 'I'm back.'
Listen to Wale's remix of SZA's 'The Weekend' below.

In a new interview with Billboard, Wale revealed that he has been working on a new project, as well as releasing a music video for 'Black Bonnie' on July 31. 'I’m definitely going to drop a new music project very very soon,” Wale said to Billboard. He also described going to the studio every day for the last two months.
In addition to making new music, Wale described challenges in trying to get involved in the film industry. 'Right now I’m trying to get into film and there have been some walls in front of me that I wasn’t expecting, that I probably wouldn’t have had to go through five or ten years ago,” he said. “It’s a difficult industry. It’s also small. There’s regular Hollywood and there’s black Hollywood and trying to find your way is tough. There are certain circles.' Read the full Billboard interview here.
With the seemingly nonstop rush of new music constantly being released on iTunes, Spotify, Tidal, and Soundcloud, it can feel like some truly fantastic, underground hip-hop slips through the cracks. After all with big names like The Carters, Kanye West, and Drake taking up all the air in just the month of June, the middle class of rap seems easy to overlook in the constant effort to stay aware of what else is new.
That means that some real gems can get ignored. With all the new music coming out all the time, who can keep up right? Fortunately, in our modern era of streaming and digital releases, its easier than ever to revisit and get caught up with the rap music you may have missed in the rush, from boom-bap, backpack rap to transcendent, prolific, new wave trap. Here are just a few of the albums from this year that deserve a listen alongside all the top-heavy releases.
Jamla Records
The news that the iconic MC would be pairing with the gifted producer for a full, five-song EP set the internet abuzz with interest. After all, Black Thought is one of hip-hop’s premier rappers, but over the past few high-concept releases from The Roots, we’ve never really gotten to hear him cut loose lyrically, the way he did with his viral freestyle. Fortunately, that’s exactly what he’s done here, over razor-edged funk samples from 9th Wonder and his crew of Jamla producers. The feather in the EP’s cap is the aptly titled “Dostoevsky,” where Thought and guest rapper Rapsody wax philosophical in dense, metaphor-laden verses that require multiple listens and plenty of annotation to break down each jewel that’s dropped.

The discography of Wale, a Nigerian-Americanhip hop recording artist, consists of five studio albums, three compilation albums, ten mixtapes, one extended play, forty-six singles (including twenty as a featured artist), two promotional singles and forty-one music videos. In 2005, Wale started his music career by releasing mixtapes in the Washington, D.C. area. His first mixtape was titled Paint a Picture. Following that, Wale released his second mixtape in 2006, Hate Is the New Love. In the same year, Wale signed with a local record label in Studio 43.[1] In 2007 Wale was discovered by Mark Ronson, and was signed by Allido Records,[1] which released his third mixtape, 100 Miles & Running, featuring artist Daniel Merriweather.
In 2008, Wale was signed by Interscope Records,[1] which released his fourth mixtape, The Mixtape About Nothing, which is Seinfeld-themed.[2] In 2009, Wale also released his debut studio album, Attention Deficit, which contains three singles, 'Chillin', featuring Lady Gaga, 'Pretty Girls', featuring Gucci Mane, and Weensey, and 'World Tour', featuring Jazmine Sullivan. After going on tour with Jay-Z in 2009, Wale became a managed artist of Jay-Z's recording label, Roc Nation, to help with all management duties.[3] In that same year, he released his fifth mixtape, Back to the Feature. In 2010, he released his sixth (and second Seinfeld-themed[4]) mixtape, More About Nothing under his own independent label, The Board Administration.[5]
In 2011, Wale signed to Maybach Music Group where a compilation album named Self Made Vol. 1 was released. It topped R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and Top Rap Albums, while peaking a number five on the Billboard 200 chart. Wale released his second studio album, Ambition, on November 1, 2011. It peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, and topped R&B/Hip-Hop Albums as well as Top Rap Albums.
